ROLE:             MEDIA  AND STORYTELLING

The Planetary Health Initiative has established a strong social media presence and Neighbourhood News platforms to engage the wider community in sharing stories of solutions to strengthen community, reduce the risk of disasters and restore the health of the planet.

Each platform also hosts a community events calendar. This position offers an opportunity to work with the Planetary Health Team to develop these platforms through sourcing local stories and storytellers, writing stories, creating reels and other creative content, and gathering events for the calendars, as well as spreading the news to engage more of the community with the platforms.

 

BASIC TASKS:

– Sourcing events, stories and storytellers for Neighbourhood News platforms

– Spreading the news about the Neighbourhood News platforms to engage the wider community e.g., attending community group meetings; stalls in shopping centres; sharing on social media

– Writing stories and creating reels and other creative content

 

SKILLS NEEDED:

Storytelling and/or multimedia experience e.g., writing, photography, video

High level interpersonal and communication skills

Demonstrated ability to engage with community networks to share information and to source stories and events

Social Media skills

 

TIME COMMITMENT:                                    DURATION OF POSITION:

2 hours to 3 days per week.                         Ongoing
