As part of the Bioregional Collaboration for Planetary Health, the Blue Mountains Planetary Health Initiative has worked with the University of Notre Dame, Lithgow, to introduce first year medical and paramedical students to the concept of Planetary Health and the need for systemic change to reduce the risk of future disasters.

4 April, 2023

The Planetary Health Initiative gave two workshops to first year medical students (2 groups of 60) who visited the Planetary Health site in Katoomba.

As part of Rural Trauma Week the Initiative gave a presentation on Planetary Health and Disaster Risk Reduction to 4 different groups of medical and paramedical students at the University of Notre Dame, Lithgow (approx. 120 students) over two days.

This was followed by Disaster Simulation Exercises with each group of roughly 30 students.
