Solutions Media

Published by Panetary Health Initiative on

Our stories drive the direction of our culture.

Critical to systemic change is the need to create narratives that focus on growing cultural support for that change. Our goal is to create a collaborative, solutions focused culture committed to restoring the health of our planet: socially, economically and environmentally.

Our Solutions Media program therefore, trains, supports and employs storytellers to create media focused on the solutions we need to address our planetary health crises.

We are creating a compelling vision of the future that offers an alternative to current paradigms, and we are creating models for media that can be scaled to other local government areas.

Planetary Health News

Our Planetary Health News is a collaboration between Blue Mountains City Council’s Planetary Health Centre and Environmental Trust, and all sectors of the community, to provide trustworthy and constructive solutions-focused news to strengthen communities and restore the health of our planet.

It is not-for-profit and has grown from our hyperlocal news services in each neighbourhood, demonstrating how communities are working together to create the news we need, and how many positive actions at a local level can combine to create a global news service.

We welcome stories from every sector in communities around the world that demonstrate how we are creating a better future socially, economically and environmentally, including a better future for all species.

By building strong social connections, and sharing solutions for the common good, we can collaboratively reduce the risk of future extreme natural or social events becoming disasters.

The stories we share focus on what people in our communities are actually doing, not what they could or should do. We are keen to celebrate what we have achieved, and learn from each other how best to move forward together.

By sharing stories from all sectors of the community, we hope to increase wildcard  networking and cross-sector dialogues, thereby encouraging more cross-sector collaborations.

Through the stories we tell we are supporting communities to tackle the complex challenges we are all facing.
