We’d love you to share what you’re doing to inspire us all to act!

A huge thank you to Tracie McMahon for sharing her action with us on the Planetary Health Initiative Facebook page – we were inspired to try it today too! While it may be a daily practice for Tracie, it was a NEW action for us and we really appreciate her tip.

A daily practice. I figure it is why they wrap the gazette in a bag – perfect size for a hand and pocket to protect me while picking up all the fruit labels, wrapper corners etc when I bushwalk and bring it out. And to add to dumping, people really should be aware where their ” stuff” might end up. Here is a balloon and string in the bottom of Jamieson Valley caught in a tree I found while walking yesterday. What happens ” up top” affects not just up there

Thanks to Tracie’s inspiration, on my walk today I gloved up with my Gazette plastic wrapper and picked up a discarded face mask, a cigarette, a spoon and some wrappers. While the plastic will still end up in the bin, it’s now been used more than once!

When we first started A Year In a Day one month ago, we were worried that we wouldn’t be able to think of one NEW action to take every day. Thanks to everyone sharing though, we haven’t missed a day yet … and the ideas keep flowing in. We record everyone’s NEW actions for our Citizen Science Project because we’re trying to urge everyone to go beyond what they’re already doing, but all actions shared can inspire others to act.

You can share your actions at the end of this blog or on any of our social media pages.

We’d love you to collaborate with us and share any NEW action you take to restore planetary health in the comments below or on our social media. Feel free to copy some of the actions our participants have been sharing – the action only needs to be NEW for you. Let us know if other people are influenced by your posts, or ours, so that we can measure outcomes of this project. To leave a comment on this blog you’ll need to enter your name and email address.

Our first step is to record 365 new actions. Our second step will be to aim for 365 new actions in one single day. Imagine if we could do it every day of the year! You can subscribe to receive a daily action from us here

This weekend. Watered the garden with the shower water today-arrangement as shown by barrel. Took vegies next door for containers and cooked wth the ingredients myself. Also bathed in the cold pond down the back x2 (after soaping & rinsing up a tad with rainwater). It has a very good auqaponic style filtration system and plants growing in it. Collected 120 glass containers from a mate. That $12 will go to AWC.
