DESCRIPTION:First Saturday of the month\n1.30-4.30pm\nBlue Mountains Planetary Health Precinct & Parklands\n33-39 Acacia St Katoomba (in lower part of the site)\nOne of the most important ways we can contribute to restoring the health of our planet is to regenerate our bushland and swamps to provide habitat and food for wildlife. Come along and discover the joy of working with community and becoming an integral part of our local ecosystem at the Planetary Health Bushcare Group on the first Saturday of every month at the Planetary Health Precinct & Parklands in Katoomba. \n\nWe meet from 1.30 to 4.30pm. No experience is required. You will receive training on identifying native species\, and invasive weeds\, and training on how to treat/remove those weeds. DESCRIPTION:Join us for an Autumn pruning workshop designed for backyard growers and budding permaculturists who want to deepen their understanding of how\, why and when to prune fruit trees and woody perennials. \nThis practical\, skill-building session will be led by Derek Pracy\, an experienced local arborist and horticulturalist. During this workshop\, we will cover: \n\nThe principles of pruning and their role in plant health and productivity\nDebunking pruning myths and learning the best time to prune your trees\nIdentifying different pruning cuts and tools required\nHow to shape trees for sunlight\, airflow and easy harvesting\nPruning for long-term structure versus seasonal growth\nTips for maintaining common fruit trees found in local Blue Mountains gardens\n\nThe workshop will take place in a couple of North Katoomba backyards (TBC)\, providing a real-life example of pruning across different species and stages of growth. DESCRIPTION:Leura Garden Club was established in 1955 to enable people with a passion for gardening to connect and exchange knowledge and ideas.  The preservation of bushland\, our local environment and native flora are concepts the Leura Garden Club fully supports. We became incorporated as Leura Home Garden Club Inc in 1987 and are affiliated with Garden Clubs of Australia. \nThe club meets every 3rd Tuesday of the month at the St Alban’s Church Hall\, 137A Megalong Street\, Leura starting at 9.45 am. Each meeting has: \n\nan interesting guest speaker (view guest speaker timetable here > )\nopportunities to purchase plants grown by fellow members\naccess to an excellent library of gardening books\nmorning tea.\n\nLocal garden rambles follow each meeting\, then there is an opportunity to share ideas over lunch in a nearby restaurant.

DESCRIPTION:A day for developing your metalworking skills. You must have already completed at least one term of metalworking. You will also need to enrol as a workshop member or yearly member of the Art Centre  \nShare experiences\, increase your skills and confidence \, reflect on strengths and express yourself creatively. We will collectively decide the themes and direction for each session. A good starting point is reconnecting with each other and any unfinished objects. \nThe cost includes the use of equipment and tools each session but you will need to provide consumables and metals for your projects.
