Swampcare

Swampcare is run by the Bushcare program and is made up of:
  • Educational workshops directed at increasing the awareness and understanding of Blue Mountains Swamps and the threatened species that rely on them for their continued existence.
  • Practical workshops directed at providing community volunteers with the specialized skills needed to work in fragile swamp environments and to rehabilitate degraded swamps with soft engineering techniques.
  • On-ground work days designed to channel community energy into on-ground rehabilitation of Blue Mountains Swamp systems particularly if they are known Blue Mountains Water Skink and Giant Dragonfly sites.
How do I get involved?
Come along to Swampcare events – they are free, fun and informative and help preserve our unique Blue Mountains swamps.
Join the Swampcare email distribution list for regular updates on events by emailing bushcare@bmcc.nsw.gov.au.
Visit the upcoming events page on the Blue Mountains Bushcare site.

Swampwatch

Swampwatch is based on the neighbourhood watch idea and involves engaging the community in monitoring Blue Mountains swamps for negative impacts which are then reported to our Environmental Sustainability team for investigation and action where possible.
Blue Mountains swamps need as many eyes and ears looking after them as possible.
