Alex Felix from EarthRising Mushroom Farm will teach you how to grow your own mushrooms and provide you with a take-home kit to start your own.
The workshop will include:
- An overview of the different spaces to grow mushroom.
- A step-by-step guide to setting up a simple home cultivation system at home.
- Basics of mushroom cultivation: substrates, spawn, and growing conditions.
- Tips for optimal growing conditions and troubleshooting common issues.
- Learning the different pasteurisation and sterilisation techniques.
- A hands-on Cultivation Session – Making your growing bag, preparing the substrate and inoculating it with grain spawn.
This activity is the first in a full day of Skill Share activities at the Centre that includes Fashion Upcycling from 9am, workshops, forums and Planetary Health Bushcare from 1.30pm.
