Over the last 18 months the Blue Mountains Planetary Health Initiative has trialled the creation of hyperlocal Neighbourhood News sites sharing the inspiring stories of locals who are working to strengthen community and restore the health of our planet. We’ve focused on constructive positive solutions-focused storytelling as an antidote to mainstream media; and on hyperlocal news sites because well-connected communities are more resilient in the face of future challenges. As part of a Bioregional Collaboration for Planetary Health funded by the Disaster Risk Reduction Fund we’ve also run workshops and events, and built a Water Demonstration site to showcase community water management to reduce the risk of future extreme weather events turning into disasters.

We are inviting all those who’ve shared their stories with us to a free Celebrating the Changemakers Lunch. At 12 noon we’ll do a tour of our exhibition space and Water Demonstration site, then share a Celebratory Lunch with the launch of our new video.

We have uncovered so many inspiring people and inspiring stories and would love everyone to meet each other! It’s an opportunity for everyone to be as inspired as we have been, and an opportunity to form new connections, collaborations and alliances.

Join us at the Planetary Health Centre as we chart a way forward together.

This Bioregional Collaboration for Planetary Health has been supported by the Disaster Risk Reduction Fund (DRRF). The DRRF is jointly funded by the Australian and NSW governments.
