Permaculture is a powerful method for redesigning all our systems to restore Planetary Health. It looks at human and non-human systems through an ecological lens, utilising ethics and principles inspired by traditional cultures and natural ecosystems.
During the course participants learn new ways for organising societies, growing food regeneratively, restoring ecosystems and living sustainably and ethically in relationship with Country.
It is a solutions-focused response to the challenges of our world, and participants will work collaboratively to create a permaculture design of the old Katoomba Golf Course, reimagining it as a centre for Planetary Health. They will also work collaboratively to design social enterprises that provide meaningful livelihoods that can meet our communities’ needs.
The 72 hour internationally recognised Permaculture Design Course will also be followed by an optional mentoring program to develop the social enterprises designed during the course. Participants will learn more advanced skills for restoring Planetary Health and for running a business, being supported to ‘earn while you learn’ during this mentoring program.
We’re able to offer this workshop to young people for free thanks to the support of the Blue Mountains Pluriversity, Blue Mountains City Council’s Planetary Health Initiative, and funding from the NSW State Government’s Youth Opportunities Program.
