There is a growing demand for those who are skilled in clothing alteration as clothes are valued and upcycled rather than discarded.

Sherlie McMillan, from the Rotary Club of Blackheath, is a professional pattern maker and teacher and will be sharing her skills to train community members to help meet this demand.

If you’re interested in upcycling fashion for yourself, or to explore a new income stream, this course will provide you with the skills and support you need to get started.

The Course will provide hands on experience in:

  • Setting up, adjusting and using a sewing machine
  • Handling fabrics
  • Garment fitting and alterations
  • Pattern Development
  • Garment Construction

and a range of other skills!

Sewing machines will be made available, but if you have one, please bring your own machine.

For more information ring Lis on 0407 437 553 or email planetaryhealth@bmcc.nsw.gov.au
